Debate in Tibetan Language

Whilst the nuns are very familiar with the Tibetan style of debate, this year the Dolma Ling Tibetan language teachers introduced Parchen class students to the Western style of debate where the students take opposing sides of an argument and each side presents its view. The question is then put to the vote. The session was held in front of the main temple in the presence of the Dolma Ling Principal, members of the nunnery Education Committee, and the nunnery’s leadership team.

Five topics were discussed: the value of studying the Tibetan language in this age, the pros and cons of AI, about the Patala Palace, the Four Principal Commitments of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and the benefits of learning poems.
